Tigers Score Early and Often Against Hornets
No. 7-ranked Riverside City College closed out its regular-season home schedule with a bang, grabbing a 21-3 victory over Fullerton College to secure the Orange Empire Conference series win.
The Tigers improve to 29-10 overall and 15-5 in the OEC, while the Hornets drop to 20-19 on the year and 7-13 in conference.
RCC finished with 20 hits in the lopsided victory with Grant Gray going 4-for-6 to lead the charge.
Riverside scored early and often, plating one run in the first inning and five in the second before blowing the game out of the water in the fourth with nine runs.
With bases loaded and no outs, Luke Medure (1-for-3) sacrificed a fly ball to score the first runner. The Tigers loaded the bases once again and walked in three runs before Gray drilled a two-RBI single to center field and Noah Haros (3-for-5) followed with a two-RBI double. Johnny Alley (1-for-2) capped the big scoring inning with an RBI double to put RCC up 14-1.
RCC didn't let up from there and scored in the next four innings, including three runs in the seventh, to secure the 21-3 victory.
Jaden McNeely picked up the win on the mound for the Tigers.
Riverside closes out the series with Fullerton on the road, with first pitch set for 1 p.m. on Friday.
