No. 16-ranked Riverside City College came up short in both games of its doubleheader with fourth-ranked Palomar College on Friday.
The Tigers (9-5) dropped the first game 2-0 and couldn't hold on in a 3-1 loss to the Comets (10-2) in the nightcap.
RCC had six hits in the opener, led by Johnny Alley's 2-for-4 performance. Luis Sosa (1-for-4), Aiden Erlandsen (1-for-1), Robert De La Torres (1-for-2), and Josh Chairez (1-for-3) also had hits in the game.
In the second game, the Tigers finished with four hits but could only capitalize on one run.
Chairez (1-for-2) scored the lone run for RCC off a Comet error in the bottom of the fifth, but Palomar answered back with two runs in the eighth and one in the ninth to secure the 3-1 victory.
Danny Inzunza (1-for-3), Darin Osterloh (1-for-4), and Bubba Heidler (1-for-4) also had hits for the Tigers.
Riverside is back at home on Sunday, hosting No. 12-ranked Southwestern College at 1 p.m.
