Tigers Shut Out Bobcats to Even Series
Riverside City College got back to its winning ways with a 1-0 victory on the road at Saddleback College Thursday afternoon.
The Tigers improve to 21-6 on the year and 7-1 in the Orange Empire Conference, while the Bobcats drop to 14-13 overall and 4-4 in conference.
Despite the low score, RCC had seven hits in the game, with two each from Josh Chairez (2-for-5) and Luis Sosa (2-for-4). Aiden Erlandsen (1-for-2), Luke Medure (1-for-3) and Logan Clear (1-for-3) also had hits for the Tigers.
It was a scoreless duel for most of the game before RCC broke through in the top of the fifth. With one out, Clear doubled and moved to third on a Chairez single. Sosa then stepped up to the plate and turned on the first pitch for a single to center field, allowing Clear to send the eventual game-winner.
Ryan Jenkins threw a complete game shutout, allowing just five hits in nine innings with four strikeouts.
The Tigers look to close out the OEC series with the Bobcats strong on Saturday. The two teams face off at Evans Field at 12 p.m.
