Tigers Get Back on Track with Win Over Pirates
No. 9-ranked Riverside City College got back on track with a 7-1 victory over No. 7-ranked Orange Coast College on Tuesday afternoon.
The Tigers improve to 23-6 overall and 9-4 in the Orange Empire Conference, while the Pirates drop to 18-13 on the year and 6-7 in conference.
Bubba Heidler (3-for-3) and Noah Haros (3-for-5) had solid performances for RCC, with Haros driving in four runs. Gavin Egan also had a multiple-hit day, finishing 2-for-4 at the plate.
RCC struck first in the top of the third and never looked back. With two runners on and two outs, Haros doubled down the right field line to score both runners before coming home on an Isaac Castanon (1-for-1) single, 3-0.
The Tigers tacked on two more runs in the fourth and two in the ninth to seal the 7-1 victory.
Jake Valenzuela picked up the win on the mound with two strikeouts in 6.2 innings of action, while Zach Gibbs grabbed a save with three strikeouts in 2.1 innings on the mound.
The Tigers host the Pirates on Thursday at 2 p.m., while the series finale at OCC has been moved up to Friday with the rain coming over the weekend.
