Riverside Secures Series Win over Golden West
Riverside City College secured its first Orange Empire Conference series victory with a 9-4 win over Golden West College on Thursday afternoon.
The Tigers improve to 15-5 on the year, 2-0 in conference, while the Rustlers slip to 12-7 overall and 0-2 in the OEC.
Noah Haros led RCC with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate, scoring one run and batting in two others. Bubba Heidler went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs, while Danny Inzunza (1-for-3) and Dean Loyd. (1-for-3) also had hits.
After finding itself trailing 4-3 after five and a half innings, Riverside came alive in the bottom of the sixth and plated six runs to take the lead and never looked back.
With two runners on and one out, Heidler knocked a base hit to center field on the first pitch, scoring one run. Haros followed with a two-RBI single before the Tigers loaded the bases with still one out.
Haros came home on a passed ball before Loyd doubled to send two more runners home.
Charlie Ruggles picked up the win and finished with four strikeouts, while Ryan Jenkins threw six strikeouts for the Tigers.
Riverside looks to complete the series sweep on Saturday, heading back to Golden West for a noon game.
