Tigers Get Back on Track in Dominant Performance
No. 11-ranked Riverside City College got back to its winning ways with a 9-0 blanking over Pasadena City College Thursday afternoon.
The Tigers improve to 8-2 overall, while the Lancers drop to 5-5 on the year.
RCC finished with an impressive 15 hits in the game, with two each from Luis Sosa (2-for-4), Isaac Castanon (2-for-3), Luke Medure (2-for-4), Noah Haros (2-for-3), and Josh Hartman (2-for-3).
The Tigers scored early, plating three runs in the bottom of the first and six in the bottom of the second to hold on for the 9-0 victory.
In the bottom of the second with two runners on and no outs, RCC took advantage of a Lancer error to score the first run of the inning. Grant Gray followed with a two-RBI double, before Medure knocked an RBI double and Bubba Heidler got a sacrifice fly to up the score to 8-0. Hartman capped the scoring with an RBI single through the left side before PCC could get out of the inning.
Jake Valenzuela picked up his third win of the year on the mound for the Tigers, finishing with eight strikeouts and just two hits in 5.2 innings of action.
Riverside heads to Ventura College on Friday for a 1 p.m. game time, before returning home on Saturday to host the Pirates, once again at 1 p.m.
