Tigers Post Big Victory to End Regular Season

No. 13-ranked Riverside City College capped the regular season with an exclamation point, grabbing a 65-27 victory over San Diego Mesa College Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers move to 7-3 on the year and finish with a 5-2 National-Southern conference mark. The Olympians drop to 4-6 overall, 3-4 in conference.

RCC finished with 818 total offensive yards, including 644 yards passing and 174 yards rushing. Defensively, the Tigers held Mesa to 392 total offensive yards.

Bryan Wilson went 30-for-38 for 503 yards and threw four touchdown passes. Jared Doolittle also had two touchdown passes and went 4-for-5 for 141 yards.

Eight different Tigers scored touchdowns, including Brandon Raysor's 75-yard touchdown reception. Timothy Tynan went 3-for-3 on field goals and 6-for-6 on extra point attempts to chip in 15 points, while Anthony Orozco and Kia Creta also scored extra point attempts.

Defensively, Micah Valenzuela posted nine tackles, including one sack for five yards. Jamar Scott followed with eight tackles, while David Lene had five solo tackles, including a clutch sack for 15 yards.

Despite a close first quarter, RCC jumped out to a 30-14 lead at halftime and kept pushing. The Tigers scored three consecutive touchdowns – two in the third and one in the fourth – to all but seal the 65-27 victory. Wilson ran in a four-yard touchdown before Ross Nickson II grabbed a 38-yard touchdown pass and Beau Bruins went head-over-heels in the endzone to give Riverside a 58-21 lead with just over 11 minutes left to play.

Raysor put the final dagger in with his 75-yard touchdown reception from Doolittle on the first play of an RCC drive right after Mesa scored its final touchdown.

The Tigers now waits for the bowl game announcements, which will come early next week.
