No. 8-ranked Riverside City College opened conference action Saturday afternoon and dropped a double overtime loss, 40-36, to No. 14-ranked Saddleback College.
The Tigers slip to 2-2 overall and begin National-Southern League action at 0-1. The Bobcats improve to 3-1 on the year and kick off conference with a 1-0 mark.
RCC finished with 469 total offensive yards, including 337 passing yards and 132 rushing yards.
Jared Doolittle went 20-for-41 with three touchdown passes and two interceptions. Dominic Cox was on the receiving end of all three of those touchdown passes and finished with 209 yards on eight receptions. Kiyel Tyler also ran in a touchdown for Riverside.
Defensively, Micah Valenzuela posted 11 tackles, including seven solo tackles and a quarterback hurry. Caden Arellano finished with 10 tackles, six of which were solo efforts. David Lene had seven tackles (four solo), an interception, and two quarterback hurries.
The Tigers look to bounce back at home next week, hosting Palomar College on Saturday, Sept. 27, at noon.
