RCC Claims 14th-Straight OEC Championship
Riverside City College won its 14th-straight Orange Empire Conference Championship, beating out its competition by almost 200 points.
The Tigers finished with 316 points, while Orange Coast College took second with 144 points and Saddleback College finished in third with 70 points.
Sara Brittin won the javelin with a mark of 37.04 meters. Madyson Esqueda took second with a toss of 35.63 meters and Mabel Gonzalez finished in fourth at 31.47 meters.
Skylar Svidergol led a Riverside-heavy discus podium, taking first with a toss of 41.21 meters. Victoria Redd finished in second with a mark of 40.21 meters, Kenzy Eden took third at 37.75 meters, and Nyah Brown grabbed fourth with a mark of 35.02 meeters. Gina Misiaita (sixth, 31.50 meters) and Nyeta Urquides (seventh, 31.17 meters) rounded out the Tigers on the podium.
It was an all RCC final in the 100-meter dash, with Kaycia Carridice winning the event in 11.95 seconds. Skye Williams followed in second with a time of 12.42 seconds, just edging out Sara Brittin in third at 12.43 seconds. Stephanie Brittin (12.62 seconds, fourth), Jamie Watts (2.64 seconds, fifth), Tiana Burgess (12.83 seconds, sixth), Beau Hocking (12.93 seconds, seventh), and Teyani Dixon (13.15 seconds, eighth) rounded out the podium.
Carridice also won the 200-meter dash in 24.43 seconds. Watts grabbed third with a time of 25.77 seconds, while Isabella Ibibosemoses took fifth (26.55 seconds) and Skye Williams grabbed sixth with a time of 27.45 seconds.
Caitlyn Brody took seventh in the 1500-meter, clocking in at 5:24.92. She also finished sixth in the 800-meter with a time of 2:38.96.
RCC took six of the top spots in the 100-meter hurdles, led by Tiana Burgess, who finished in 14.37 seconds to take first. Kierstin Marpaung followed in 14.64 seconds to take second, while Gonzalez took fourth with a time of 16.60 seconds. Stephanie Brittin (sixth, 18.81 seconds) and Zyara Torres (seventh, 22.13 seconds) rounded out the group.
Burgess also took second in the triple jump, clearing 11.87 meters. Marpaung followed in third with a mark of 11.12 meters, while Stephanie Brittin finished in fourth with a mark of 11.08 meters.
Beau Hocking grabbed a runner-up finish in the high jump, clearing 1.60 meters, while Gonzalez picked up third with a mark of 1.55 meters and Marpaung finished fourth with a jump of 1.55 meters. Esqueda took sixth with a jump of 1.25 meters.
Kyndall Hayes took second in the 400-meter race, clocking in at 56.63 seconds, while Janel Lugo-Bourbonnias grabbed fourth in 58.23 seconds and Isabella Ibibosemoses followed in fifth with a time of 1:01.46.
K'si Brooks finished third in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking in at 1:09.19, while Zyara Torres took fifth in 1:23.09 and Kayla Franz grabbed sixth with a time of 1:24.31.
Celeste Mendoza finished fifth in the 5K, crossing the finish line in 20:36.81. Jessica Munoz wasn't far behind in seventh place with a time of 21:06.21.
Gonzalez took second in the heptathlon with 3761 points, while Esqueda grabbed third with 3061 points.
Riverside won the 4x100 in 41.55 seconds, while the 4x400 relay team finished in 4:01.76.
The Tigers head to the SoCal Prelims on May 2, hosted by Bakersfield College.
