RCC Starts Strong at Moorpark Opener
Riverside City College got the 2026 season underway Friday and Saturday with the Moorpark College Season Opener.
The Tigers swept the 60-meter race, led by Kaycia Carridice (7.75 seconds). Sara Brittin took second (8.01 seconds), while Stephanie Brittin grabbed third in 8.06 seconds. Beau Hocking (8.29 seconds) and Teyani Dixon (8.35 seconds) also finished in the top 10.
Sara Brittin won the javelin throw, hurling a mark of 33.13 meters – almost six meters further than her competition.
Victoria Redd won the discus with a mark of 44.42 meters, while Kenzy Eden (36.11 meters) and Gina Misiaita (31.77 meters) also placed in the top 10. Misiaita and Eden also placed in the top 10 in the hammer with respective throws of 35.18 meters and 34.10 meters, while Redd took fourth in the shot put (11.02 meters). Nyeta Urquides (10.83 meters), Misiaita (10.66 meters), and Edan (10.48 meters) also finished in the top 10 of the shot put.
Tiana Burgess won the triple jump with a jump of 11.76 meters and grabbed a second-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking in at 9.35 seconds.
Riverside won the 4x400 relay (Isabella Ibibosemoses, Carridice, Kyndall Hayes, Skye Williams) in 4:01.77.
Hocking took second in the high jump, clearing 1.50 meters, while Stephanie Brittin finished second in the long jump with a mark of 5.24 meters.
Hayes took third in the 300m with a time of 41.00 seconds, while Ibibosemoses took sixth in 42.85.
Caitlyn Brody finished fifth in the 600-meter with a time of 1:49.95 and also took second in the 2000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:14.37.
Celeste Mendoza (11:43.48) and Jessica Munoz (11:44.85) grabbed ninth and 10th, respectively.
Jessica Munoz finished ninth in the 1500-meter, posting a time of 5:40.94.
The Tigers make their home debut next week with the RCC Early Bird on Friday at 1 p.m.
