RCC Dominates OEC Invite
Riverside City College took on Orange Empire Conference teams and won the OEC Invitational on Friday with ease.
The Tigers finished with 301 points, while Orange Coast College took second with 150 points, and Fullerton College grabbed third with 49 points.
Sara Brittin won the javelin with a mark of 34.72 meters, while Madyson Esqueda followed in second (32.74 meters) and Mabel Gonzalez took fourth (25.53 meters).
RCC swept the shot put, taking the top seven spots. Nyah Brown led the Tigers in first with a toss of 11.79 meters, while Victoria Redd grabbed second with a mark of 11.52 meters and Nyeta Urquides grabbed third (11.18 meters).
Kenzy Eden won the hammer with a mark of 36.68 meters, while Skylar Svidergol took second in 35.39 meters.
The Tigers kept up the throwing domination with RCC posting the four best throws in the discus. Redd won the event with a mark of 41.65 meters, followed by Svidergol in second (40.15 meters) and Eden in third (37.55 meters).
Riverside went one-two in the long jump as Stephanie Brittin posted a winning jump of 5.14 meters and Tiana Burgess followed with a mark of 5.12 meters.
Burgess won the triple jump with a mark of 11.78 meters, while Kierstin Marpaung took second (11.34 meters) and Stephanie Brittin grabbed third (10.95 meters).
Beau Hocking took second in the high jump (1.55 meters), while Marpaung followed in third (1.50 meters).
On the track, Caitlyn Brody won the 1500-meter in five minutes, 4.52 seconds after putting in a big kick in the final stretch of the race. Brody followed with a win in the 800-meter, clocking in at 2:33.59.
Beau Hocking won the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.86 seconds, while Jamie Watts followed with a time of 12.89 seconds, and Teyani Dixon grabbed third in 13.29 seconds. Watts also took third in the 200-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 26.56 seconds.
Celeste Mendoza finished runner-up in the 5K, clocking in at 20:19.10.
Gonzalez took third in the 100-meter hurdles (17.90 seconds), while Esqueda took fourth (20.75 seconds).
Isabella Ibibosemoses grabbed third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.19.
The Tigers are back home next Friday, hosting the RCC Invitational.
