Riverside City College hosted its big invitational on Friday, taking on numerous four-year institutions.

The Tigers finished sixth overall with 54 points, while NCAA Division I UC San Diego won the event with 177 team points.

Sara Brittin won the javelin with a mark of 39.48 meters, while Madyson Esqueda finished fifth with a mark of 33.29 meters, and Mabel Gonzalez took ninth at 26.82 meters.

Isabella Chavez got things going for the Tigers on the track with a second-place finish in the 3K steeplechase, finishing in 14 minutes, 16.59 seconds.

Nyah Brown took fourth in the shot put with a mark of 12.74 meters – almost one full meter further than last week's mark. Skylar Svidergol took sixth (11.51 meters), and Victoria Redd followed in seventh (11.32 meters). Svidergol and Redd also went ninth and 10th in the discus with respective throws of 40.08 meters and 40.04 meters.

Tiana Burgess grabbed a top-five finish in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking in at 14.37 seconds, just .03 seconds behind third place. Burgess also posted the seventh-best triple jump at 11.48 meters and the 14th-best long jump with a mark of 5.40 meters.

Kierstin Marpaung took 10th in the triple jump with a mark of 11.21 meters and followed with sixth place in the high jump at 1.48 meters.

K'si Brooks took sixth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:14.58, while fellow Tiger Kayla Franz finished in eighth in 1:23.40.

Fresh off winning the 800-meter race last week at the OEC Invite, Caitlyn Brody bettered her time this week, clocking in at 2:28.15 – shaving five seconds off her previous week's time.

The Tigers' 4x100 meter relay team took third in 47.99 seconds, beating out three NCAA Division II teams.

Riverside heads to the Ben Brown Invitational on Thursday and Friday, hosted at Cal State Fullerton.
