Tigers Take Third at 3C2A State Championship

Riverside City College's men's track and field finished the year on the podium at the 3C2A State Championships, claiming third place with a total of 61 points.
The Tigers finished just .71 seconds behind San Diego Mesa in the 4x400 relay to narrowly take second place in the last competition of the weekend, clocking in at 3:13.87.
Jared Schulte led a trio of Tigers in the 400-meter dash, taking home third place with a time of 48.14 seconds. Lance Durazo followed at 48.46 seconds to take fifth, while Orlando Collins grabbed sixth in 48.79 seconds.
Omar Sanchez and Damion Ortiz showed out in the shot put, placing third and fourth, respectively, with marks of 15.88 and 15.63 meters. Sanchez hit his best mark of the day on his fifth attempt, while Ortiz hit 15.63 meters on his final try to jump up from seventh to fourth.
In the 400 hurdles, Ahkil McClellan finished on the podium in third with a time of 53.20 seconds.
Aden Johnson clocked in at 14.56 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles, which was good for fourth place.
Joshua West also finished in fourth in the 10K, posting a time of 32:34.20. Luis Mier took 10th overall with a time of 33:13.02.
Zolan Frank grabbed fifth in the hammer throw with a mark of 51.58 meters.
Matthew Lollino took sixth in a tightly contested 100-meter dash, hitting a time of 10.56 seconds.
Joey Garcia and James Padilla both placed in the discus throw, taking sixth and eighth, respectively. Garcia hit his best mark of 48.12 meters on his third attempt, while Padilla shook off two early scratches to hit 44.10 meters on his third try as well.
Alex Wesolowski grabbed seventh in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:00.45, while Martin Sandoval followed in 4:09.28 to take 12th overall.
Jacob Sayed just missed out on the podium in the pole vault, taking ninth with a mark of 4.20 meters.
Edward Moody took 11th in the high jump after clearing 1.85 meters.
