Tigers Beat OEC Competition with Ease
Riverside City College took on Orange Empire Conference teams and won the OEC Invitational on Friday with ease.
The Tigers posted 409.5 team points, while Orange Coast College followed with 130 points and Saddleback College posted 96 points.
RCC dominated the throws with Jace Collins winning the shot put. He hurled a mark of 14.52 meters, while James Padilla took second (14.19 meters) and Omar Sanchez finished third (13.95 meters).
Sanchez won the hammer with a toss of 45.99 meters, while Joseph Garcia took second with a mark of 44.58 meters.
Garcia won the discus with a mark of 44.77 meters, while Sanchez took second (43.94 meters) and Padilla picked up third (42.62 meters).
Kai-lynn Keo won the long jump with a mark of 6.92 meters, while La'Darrian Watkins won the high jump at 1.95 meters and Kameron Hawkins won the triple jump with a mark of 14.15 meters. Keo took second in the triple (13.36 meters) and Joaquin Leiva grabbed third (13.10 meters).
Mateo De La Parra took second in the javelin with a throw of 41.28 meters, while Justin Camacho grabbed fourth (37.65 meters) and Cirus Carrillo took fifth (36.67 meters).
Jacob Sayed grabbed second in the pole vault (4.05 meters), while Joseph Munoz picked up third (3.45 meters).
On the track, Joshua West led an RCC-heavy 1500-meter race, clocking in at four minutes, 1.91 seconds to take first. Alex Wesolowski followed in second (4:02.22) and Martin Sandoval grabbed third (4:04.58).
West also won the 5K, clocking in at 16:07.20. Luis Mier took second in 16:17.52, while Ivan Dorantes wasn't far behind in third with a time of 16:19.46.
Wesolowski won the 800-meter run in 1:58.46, while Sandoval finished third in 2:01.12.
Aden Johnson won the 400-meter dash in 50.09 seconds, while Ryan Babino wasn't far behind in second (50.84 seconds).
Aaron Lujan posted a time of 22.13 seconds to win the 200-meter dash, while Jared Schulte took second (22.22 seconds) and Lance Durazo grabbed third (22.42 seconds).
Vincent Price took second in the 3K steeplechase with a time of 12:17.94.
Gage McCorkell finished third in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 11.14 seconds, while Artyon Celestine won his heat and took fourth in 11.18 seconds.
Ahkil McClellan posted a time of 56.79 seconds, which was good for third place in the 400-meter hurdles.
RCC won the 4x100 relay in 41.76 seconds and capped the meet with a first-place finish in the 4x400 relay (3:24.44).
The Tigers are back home next Friday, hosting the RCC Invitational.
