Riverside Runs in Rain at RCC Open

Riverside City College competed in wet conditions at the RCC Open on Friday, still seeing solid performances.

Marcellus Linton won the 100-meter dash in 10.69 seconds, while freshmen Jarius Midgett (11.06 seconds) and Adrian Chister (11.07 seconds) followed in second and third, respectively. Linton also won the 200-meter race, clocking in at 21.34 seconds. Orlando Collins took second in 22.16 seconds.

Collins also grabbed second in the 400-meter race with a time of 49.14 seconds.

Rowan Hudson posted a time of 15.21 seconds to take second in the 110-meter hurdles.

Martin Sandoval grabbed fifth place in the 800-meter race, crossing the finish line in 1:58.67.

Joshua West finished in the top 10 in the 3,000-meter event, taking ninth in 8:55.85.

The 4x100 relay team of Midgett, Aaron Lujan, Jason Sherman and Linton took second after posting a time of 42.63 seconds. Midgett also teamed up with Lance Durazo, Daniel Agbelusi and Andy Masvi in the 4x400 relay, posting a time of 3:23.14 to take third.

Kendrick Bracy took sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.77 meters and ninth in the long jump with a mark of 6.37 meters. Jason Allen grabbed sixth in the triple jump after posting a jump of 13.26 meters.

Isaiah Butler took third in the shot put with a toss of 14.05 meters, while Justice Brown followed in fourth at 13.56 meters. Butler also grabbed third in the discus, throwing 46.83 meters on his final try.

Adam Torres won the hammer throw with a mark of 51.00 meters on his first toss of the day. Butler finished fourth at 49.96 meters.

James Henderson and Anthony McCullough took fourth and fifth in the javelin with respective throws of 42.69 meters and 40.90 meters.

The Tigers head to the Arnie Robinson Invitational and the Mangrum Invite next weekend, hoping to keep building momentum for postseason.
