RCC Dominates All-OEC Honors

Riverside City College saw five individuals and three doubles teams earn All-Orange Empire Conference honors.

Ronith Sreeram and Giovanne Recchia, Charalampos Plataniotis and Vinicius Magrin, and Matias Almeida and Ethan Lee all grabbed doubles honors, while Sreeram, Recchia, Plataniotis, Magrin and Almeida picked up singles recognition too.

Sreeram finished the year with a 12-8 singles record, advancing to the 3C2A State Championship quarterfinals.

Recchia ended the year with a 10-8 singles record, advancing to the 3C2A State Championship with a first-round bye before ultimately losing in the round of 32 in an extra set.

Sreeram and Recchia boasted a 14-7 record as a doubles team and qualified for the 3C2A State Championship, ultimately losing in the round of 16.

Plataniotis posted a 13-6 singles record and secured his spot in the 3C2A State Championship Tournament, picking up a first-round bye before bowing out in the round of 32.

Magrin ended the year with a 9-5 singles record and picked up a first-round bye to start the state tournament, ultimately falling in the round of 32.

Together Plataniotis and Magrin finished with a 17-2 record, boasting an 89 win percentage. The pair secured their spot in the 3C2A State Championship, ultimately losing in overtime in the round of 16.

Almeida posted a 12-5 singles record and earned his spot in the state championship with a first-round bye. His season came to an end in the round of 32.

As a doubles team with Ethan Lee, the pair boasted a 13-3 record and came up with big wins throughout the year. The duo secured wins in the round of 64 and 32, but ultimately bowed out in the round of 16.
