RCC Digs Deep to Take Down Bakersfield

Riverside City College grabbed a big 5-4 victory over Bakersfield College on Friday afternoon.

The Tigers improve to 2-0 on the year, while the Renegades drop to 2-3 overall.

Charalampos Plataniotis and Vinicius Magrin got the Tigers going with the first win of the day, downing their doubles match 8-2. Matias Almeida and Ethan Lee also won their doubles match (8-4) to put RCC up 2-1 heading into singles action.

Lee kept momentum going with a 6-4, 6-3 win in the No. 6 spot, while Magrin put RCC closer to victory with a 6-4, 6-0 singles win. Almeida came in clutch in the No. 5 spot, battling back from a first-set defeat to win in three (3-6, 7-5, 10-7).

The Tigers head to Occidental College on Saturday for a 2 p.m. contest, looking to keep building momentum.
