RCC Finishes OEC Action Strong

Riverside City College closed out the regular season on Friday with a win and a loss to finish fifth in the Orange Empire Conference. The Tigers fell 4-1 to Saddleback College but battled to grab a 3-2 victory over Irvine Valley College.

RCC moves to 7-18 overall and 6-8 in conference, while Saddleback sits at 11-7 on the year, 11-3 in the OEC and IVC boasts a 5-19 overall, 5-9 conference mark.

In the opener against the Bobcats, Sienna Veum and Riley Rush battled to grab a 2-1 victory. After dropping the first set, the pair won the second 21-15 and secured the match with a 15-12 deciding set.

Against IVC, Karina Watts and Jessica Lopez breezed through a 2-0 victory (21-13, 21-15), while Veum and Rush remained undefeated on the day with a 2-0 win (21-18, 21-10). The match all came down to the No. 3 pairs as Keira Isgar and Danna DeLeon battled from behind a set to win 2-1 (18-21, 21-14, 15-8).

The Tigers begin the OEC Pairs Tournament on Wednesday, back at IVC.
