Tigers Claim First Victory of the Year
Riverside City College picked up its first win of the year with a 4-1 victory over Glendale College on Friday. The Tigers also dropped a 5-0 result to host College of the Desert, moving to 1-7 on the year.
Sienna Veum and Eunice Castro dominated their matchup, winning the first set 21-7 and following with a 21-14 second set victory.
Savannah Smith and Danna Deleon battled back from dropping the first set 21-17, to winning the second 21-9 and clinching the match with a 15-9 win in the third.
Marissa Ramirez and Riley Rush also went to three sets after falling behind in the first set. The Tigers tied the match with a 21-19 win in set two before sealing the victory with a 15-12 win in the third.
Kayla Tate-Rogers and Karina Watts won by default since Glendale only had four pairs to compete.
RCC returns home to the Rancho Valley Volleyball Club on Friday at 9 a.m., hosting Mt. San Jacinto College and Rio Hondo College.
