Riverside Battles at the Beach
Riverside City College dropped two matches Friday morning, falling in five sets to both Cerritos College and Santa Monica College.
The Tigers slip to 0-4 on the year, while the Falcons improve to 4-3 and the Corsairs move to 1-2 overall.
Against Cerritos, Riley Rush and Marissa Ramirez took their match to three sets and didn't go down without a fight. After dropping the first set 21-16, the Tigers won the second 22-20 and came up just short in the third, 15-13.
Karina Watts and Kayla Tate-Rogers battled against their SMC opponents, ultimately falling in three sets. The Tigers dropped the first set 21-19 then won the second 21-15 to force a third and deciding set. RCC couldn't keep the momentum going, however, dropping the third set 15-12.
Riverside heads to Mt. San Antonio College next week for a late-night matchup, taking on the Mounties and Long Beach City College Thursday night.
