Tigers Take Seventh to Start Season
Riverside City College finished seventh out of 16 teams at the La Purisima Golf Course to kick off the 2025 season, which features a new scoring format in which each team drops its two highest scores each round.
The Tigers shot a 326 on the first day, then shaved off one stroke on Monday to finish with a 651 team score.
Rigo Navarro led RCC with a 159 (78, 81), while freshman Jack Wasserman was three strokes behind with a 162 (81, 81). Ashton Spaulding carded a 164 (83, 81) over the two rounds, and Michael Viene posted a 167 (85, 82).
Elijah Gonzales finished with a 174 (84, 90) and Ian Kim made his collegiate debut with a 183 (95, 88).
The Tigers take a week off before the Orange Empire Conference season begins, first heading to the Eagle Golf Classic at Soboba Springs CC on Feb. 11.
