Riverside City College took on No. 11-ranked Mt. San Antonio College and put up a battle but couldn't sustain it in a 3-0 loss (25-23, 25-14, 25-20).
The Tigers drop to 2-7 on the year, while the Mounties improve to 6-3 overall.
Savannah Smith led Riverside with nine kills, while Sara Brittin and Jayden Franchere (.263 attack percentage) each followed with eight kills. Riley Rush finished with 31 assists, while Keira Isgar posted 13 digs defensively.
RCC came out firing on all cylinders and hit at a .371 percent in the first set, while making some key plays on defense. Mt. SAC pulled out the set win, however, and kept momentum rolling to win the match in three.
The Tigers turn right around to take on two teams on Saturday, facing Bakersfield College at 1 p.m. and No. 5-ranked LA Mission at 6 p.m. Both matches will be at LA Mission.
