RCC Grabs Fourth at 3C2A State Champions, Sees Multiple Individuals Crowned
Riverside City College closed out the 3C2A State Championship this weekend at Orange Coast College, taking fourth overall as a team and seeing multiple Tigers win championships.
Eli Martinez Spencer won the 500-yard free in a personal-best time of four minutes, 29.22 seconds, while Vincent Fierro took 12th overall with a time of 4:44.18. Martinez Spencer also posted the third-best time in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in 50.41 seconds, and was runner-up in the 200-yard backstroke at 1:46.89, which was a new RCC record.
Jared Ladinez took an early lead in the 100-yard breaststroke and held on for the lead to win in 55.79 seconds. Ladinez also took fifth in the 200-yard breast with a time of 2:04.52, while Davis DeAnda grabbed eighth in 2:10.22 and Bryce Hitter finished 10th in 2:07.40.
Wyatt Miner won the 200-yard, boasting a full body-length lead on the field throughout most of the race, before finishing with a time of 1:50.49. Miner also finished runner-up in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:48.91 and took bronze in the 100-yard butterfly, posting a personal-best time of 49.37 seconds.
The Tigers' 400-yard medley relay team of Martinez Spencer, Ladinez, Miner, and Jeremiah Ireland took first after Ireland pulled away in the anchor to give RCC the winning time of 3:20.43.
Ireland took eighth overall in the 200-yard free, clocking in at 1:42.97. Ireland also took ninth in the 100-yard free with a personal-best time of 45.75 and finished 15th in the 50-yard free with a time of 21.30 seconds.
Zachary McDonald secured a top-eight finish on both diving boards, posting a 223.10 on the 1-meter to take fourth and a score of 171.25 on the 3-meter, which was good for seventh overall.
Fierro also grabbed 12th in the 1650-yard free, posting a time of 16:54.64.
Hitter finished 14th in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:56.85 and took 16th in the 400 IM with a time of 4:16.69.
Aaron Ho finished 14th in the 100-yard IM, posting a time of 53.85 seconds.
RCC grabbed third in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:31.98, third in the 800-yard free relay at 6:47.59, and eighth in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:25.44.
