RCC Takes First at Second OEC Meet

Riverside City College won its second Orange Empire Conference meet of the year with 737 points. Golden West took second with 587.5 points, while Orange Coast College followed in third with 526 points.

The Tigers started the meet off with a first-place finish in the 400-yard free relay, posting a time of three minutes, 11.68 seconds. RCC also won the 400-yard medley relay in 3:30.48.

Jared Ladinez won the 100-yard breaststroke in 56.54 seconds, while Davis DeAnda took third (1:01.82) and Bryce Hitter finished fourth (1:03.52). Ladinez also won the 200-yard breast in 2:08.23, and DeAnda grabbed third (2:17.23), while Adrian Thompson took fourth (2:24.08).

Eli Martinez Spencer won the 100-yard backstroke in 54.50 seconds, while Wyatt Miner was the top finisher in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 52.52 seconds. Miner also won the 200-yard fly in 1:56.84 – the only swimmer to break under two minutes.

Zachary McDonald won the 1-meter diving with a score of 271.28 – the only diver to score more than 200 points.

Hitter took second in the 200-yard individual medley, clocking in at 2:06.51, while Ladinez took fourth in 2:10.20 and Jeremiah Ireland grabbed fifth with a time of 2:15.15.

Miner grabbed a runner-up finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.73 seconds, while Ireland took second in the 300-yard free with a time of 1:44.96.

Vincent Fierro took second in the 1650-yard free with a time of 17:34.31 and finished fourth in the 500-yard free, touching the wall in 4:58.00.

Isaac Sheu grabbed fourth in the 50-yard free with a time of 22.49 seconds.

Xavier Pontencion finished fifth in the 400-yard IM, clocking in at 4:51.59.

Riverside heads to Mt. San Antonio College on April 3 for the Last Chance Invite before the postseason begins the next week.
