Riverside Claims OEC Championship

Riverside City College won the Orange Empire Conference Championship Saturday after finishing with 874 points and saw two school records broken. Golden West College followed with 700 points and Orange Coast College took third with 626 points.

Head coach Jason Northcott was named the OEC Men's Swimming and Diving Coach of the Year, while Zachary McDonald was named the OEC Diver of the Meet.

Eli Martinez Spencer – who was named the OEC Men's Swimmer of the Meet – set another school record after finishing the 200-yard back in one minute, 49.13 seconds to win the championship.

Jared Ladinez also set a new school record after finishing the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:03.25. While it was a second behind first place, it was eight seconds faster than his prelims time. Bryce Hitter followed in third (2:07.31), Davis DeAnda took fourth (2:07.37), Adrian Thompson grabbed sixth (2:17.19), and Xavier Potencion rounded out the Tigers in seventh (2:18.38).

Jeremiah Ireland finished runner-up in the 100-yard free with a time of 45.86 seconds, while Isaac Sheu took seventh in 46.86 seconds.

Wyatt Miner grabbed a runner-up finish in the 200-yard butterfly, posting a time of 1:53.71.

Aaron Ho took second in the 100-yard individual medley, posting a time of 54.21 seconds. Angel Martinez followed in 57.69 seconds to take fourth.

Vincent Fierro grabbed fourth in the 1650-yard free, clocking in at 16:41.90.

In a tight race, RCC's 400-yard free relay team took third with a time of 3:07.17 to close out the meet.

RCC gets a few weeks to recover before heading back to Orange Coast College for the 3C2A State Championship on April 30.
