Tigers Secure Fourth Orange Empire Conference Title and Complete the Season Sweep of the Gauchos

Match Notes: 

  •          RCC continues its undefeated effort in the strong Orange Empire Conference with a solid win against last year's Conference Champion Saddleback College.
  •          RCC secured the outright Orange Empire Conference Championship (Fourth OEC Championship All-Time, First Since 2009) and guaranteed itself a spot in the Southern California Regional Team Playoffs.
  •          Sophomore #1 Player Jordan Gobatie got the Tigers started and held on to the "Eco Boost Award" (completing the first match of the day with no waste – environmentally friendly) with another convincing win, 6-1, 6-0.
  •          Freshmen Danny Garcia and Eliott Moreno Kept the Tigers rolling, winning the #3 and #6 spots easily.
  •          With the overall team score at 4-1, sophomore Gustavo Carvalho battled to a hard fought victory at the #4 spot 7-6, 7-6 and sealed the victory for the Tigers, putting the Tigers up 5-1 in singles.
  •          RCC completes Orange Empire Conference play next week with a road match against Orange Coast College on Tuesday, March 5th (2:00) and then returns home for its last two regular season matches against San Diego City College on Thursday and San Diego Mesa College on Friday.  Both teams are from the Pacific Coast Conference and the matches will be at 2:00 at RCC.
